But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3

Factors for Consideration:

The EyeHealth page, posted here, is for your profit. The objective of this page is to provide the reader with information with which he may be strengthened and empowered - informed and motivated - to make the very best plans, and the very best choices in regards to his general health, and especially the health of his eyes.

There are several factors to consider when planning your program for EyeHealth! Yes, I said, -Planning a program of EyeHealth- even a simple plan. My friend Earl has repeatedly said:

'If you fail to plan - you plan to fail.'

The very best plan for success is, of course, a godly plan. Consider this simple and godly plan to a long life full of vibrant health: The Eight Natural Laws of Health.

These eight godly principles and laws of health were defined and promoted by sister Ellen G. White, a renown author and prolific writer on the subjects of health and godliness. We can find no better source than the holy Scriptures themselves: It is as if we were seeking and enquiring at the Oracles of God!

An Adequate Supply of Oxygen

Critical to good EyeHealth is an adequate supply of Oxygen to the tissues of the eye. The eyes, just like the brain, need an enormous supply of Oxygen to function well and be healthy. Have you ever stood-up fast from a resting position, and perhaps felt dizzy, and/or had your vision gray-out or black-out for a few moments? That is a primary and fundamental lesson that teaches us of the absolute and critical need for a continuous and adequately ample or sufficient supply of Oxygen both to the eyes and the brain!

Anything that impairs, limits, and or inhibits Oxygen from reaching the living tissues of the eye causes/will cause damage if allowed to continue for any length of time.

Of course, one of the fundamental principles or laws of the Eight Natural Laws of Health is breathing pure fresh air. Within the air we breath is the Oxygen necessary to support human life at the cellular level. Lacking adequate Oxygen to supply the needs of the cells, individual cells become damaged and even die.

We need to ask ourselves, 'What can we do to promote good Oxygenation of the body at the cellular level?' And, likewise, we must ask ourselves, 'What are we able to do to prevent, and halt those things that limit, inhibit, or impair an adequate flow of Oxygen to the cells of the body?'

Glaucoma; Cataracts; and Macular Degeneration are, in large part, brought about by a lack of adequate, and continuous supply of pure Oxygen to the cells of the lens of the eye, the cells of retina of the eye, and the cells of other living tissues that comprise the entire eye organ.

Some things that can inhibit, impair, and/or limit adequate Oxygenation of the living eye tissues are:

  1. Arterial-Sclerosis
  2. Extremely Low Blood Pressure
  3. Advanced Glycation End-Products [AGEs], Free Radicals, and/or Diabetes Cause Blood Vessel and Capillary Damage with the End Result that Eye Tissues Receive too Little Oxygen
  4. Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, Polluted/Toxic Air, and/or Suffocation
  5. Emphysema and/or Chronic Breathing Problems
  6. Improper Nutrition and Diet
  7. Lack of Adequate Exercise
  8. Unnecessary and Prolonged Stress

Some things that can promote good Oxygenation of the living eye tissues are:

  1. Exercise - vigorous exercise, even strenuous exercise; exercise that causes the heart to beat faster and the lungs to breath deeply. Vigorously exercising the body effectively works to accomplish plentiful Oxygenation of the individual cells of the body's tissues.

If you have a heart 'condition' or other infirmity then this recommendation of vigorous and strenuous exercise must be approached with caution and the advice of your health care practitioner!

Beware - when embarking on an exercise program after having lived a sedentary lifestyle; it is advisable to begin the program with only modest exercise - start easy and build up to more vigorous and strenuous exercise - start with stretching the muscles of the body for the first week or two, then start taking short walks for a week or two building up to longer walks. Walking and Gardening can be nearly perfect exercise: Jesus walked all over Galilee; and Adam and Eve were given the work of tending the garden of Eden!

  2. Learn the practice/habit of Deep Breathing - Do this several times a day for perhaps five (5) minutes a day. Do not confuse Deep Breathing with Hyper Ventilation. Deep Breathing, of course, may be done at home. But it is better accomplished out of doors where there is an abundant supply of good fresh and pure air.

A park where there is abundant vegetation and lots of trees is a good choice. When you are able take walks in God's forests, green fields, and in the natural settings He, in His providence, has provided. Even your backyard will likely be better than inside the house. Avoid city streets where there is a lot of traffic, as the pollution in these areas is much higher than in the country side. If you have no choice but to walk on city streets, then walk when the traffic is at its lowest point - perhaps very early morning or even late night if it is safe to do so.

  3. Clean Arteries and Capillaries - For maximum blood flow through the blood vessels and capillaries, the arteries and capillaries need to be 'squeaky' clean! Plaque build up restricts blood flow and diminishes Oxygenation of the cells of the eye. Diet and will either be your friend or your foe!

Execute a plan to make Diet your friend and ally in the war to attain vibrant EyeHealth, and conquer evil lifestyle habits and wicked dietary practices - Overcoming the temptations of the Evil One is truly nothing less than Spiritual Warfare!

Dietary Nutrition

Nutritional Needs: The living organ called the eye needs more than just Oxygen to thrive and be healthy. The tissues of the eye, as do all living cells, have the need of proper nutrients. Hence, DIET is a major concern and strategy when planning and maintaining good EyeHealth.
  1. A Plant Based Diet will produce the very best EyeHealth

  2. For maximum benefit eat an abundantly large variety of fresh raw green leaves, fresh raw vegetables, and fresh raw fruits.

  3. A diet rich in Carotenoids [the pigments that color foods] such as: beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, gamma-carotene, lycopene, lutein, beta-crpytoxanthin, zeaxanthin, and astaxanthin supports good EyeHealth.

Did your mother ever say to you, 'Eat your carrots, they're good for your eyes?

  4. Mono-saturated Fats such as found in Avocados, Walnuts and Olive Oil support good absorption of Carotenoids during digestion.

  5. A diet naturally rich in Anti-Oxidants. By 'naturally rich' it is meant that these compounds come directly from the fresh vegetables, and fresh fruits consumed. We are not talking taking pills or dietary supplementation with expensive NeutraCeuticals here.

  6. A diet naturally rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. Carotenoids, Anti-Oxidants, and Vitamins A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E are all effective and powerful weapons against the ravaging effects of: Free Radicals; AGEs; Pollution; and Toxins. And they will strengthen your immune system to resist and heal viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases of the eye.

Dietary Hazards!

While some of the very best plans you can make for your EyeHealth center around diet; some of the worst things that you can do to to your eyes are also dietary. DIET is either a great ally and best friend; or it can be a horrific and destroying enemy.

God's people have great need of godly discernment to be able to choose between that which is good, healthful, and nutritious; and that which is harmful, destructive, and damaging. Much of what seems good is evil. Because we have become so very accustomed and acculturated to the ways of this present evil and wicked world, the ways of the world appear good to our senses.

What is needful to the saints of God is godly knowledge and godly wisdom.

...For the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
1 Samuel 2:3

...But through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
Proverbs 11:9

For wisdom is is a defense, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
Ecclesiastes 7:12

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psalms 90:12
Here is a short list of those things which should be avoided. As used here, the word avoid means, never used or never eaten.
  1. Never eat food fried in fat, grease, or oil.

When oils, greases, and fats are heated to cooking temperatures, an over-abundance of free radicals are created and formed. This is especially true of vegetable oils. Free Radicals cause severe damage to the cells of the body. In the blood stream, they cause great damage to the blood vessels and capillaries which eventually impairs, limits, and restricts circulation of the blood; which, in turn, results in less Oxygen and fewer Nutrients reaching the individual cells that form the tissues of the eye.

  2. Never eat animal or flesh foods or the products manufactured with them.

Flesh foods contribute to and cause arterio-sclerosis or plaque build up in the arteries and capillaries, which causes reduced circulation, again, the results impaired or restricted blood circulation are that inadequate Oxygen and Nutrition are delivered to individual living cells that form eye tissues.

  3. Avoid things like Refined Sugar; Refined Flours and all the products made with them; Coffee; Black Tea; Sodas; Vinegar; Milk and Milk Products; Alcohol and Tobacco; Recreational Drugs; even Fluoridated Municipal Tap Water [use purified Water], and Fluoridated Tooth Pastes.

None of these things promote the very best health that God intended for His saints; or, as far as that goes, they do not promote even good or fair health. They are all harmful and hurtful and damaging to your health.

Use Common Sense

Explore, Examine, and Study the information on the other pages of this Web-site: Most especially the DiabetesPage; but also these pages as well: - the FoodsPage; the NewsPage; the HomePage; and even the ArthritisPage. For there is much information that is applicable to healthy living and healthy eating practices to be found in them. Apply your hearts to attain knowledge, and to know wisdom!

And do not stop here. Devour, Feed On and Read, and Scrutinize the Word of God! Pray for wisdom:
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:5

Physical & Even Spiritual Protection Against Eye Hazards

When working around any potential Eye Hazards wisdom dictates that the Appropriate Protective Gear be used. Most often this means Safety Glasses. Many times, Safety Glasses are not sufficient protection by themselves alone; and other protective devices must be used/worn such as when welding, and/or grinding.

What About Sports? Sports can pose many kinds of EyeHazards; and if participated in, the Eye Protection appropriate to that activity must be used/worn!

However, there is yet, another dynamic involved here. Sister Ellen G. White explicitly instructs God's people that the spirit of Competition is not of God, but it is of another 'spirit' - that spirit is the spirit of worldliness or, ultimately, the spirit of Satan.

Ellen White strongly denounced Competitive Sports. Should we, against the golden advice of sister White, go ahead and participate in competitive sports, Are we tempting our God?
Jesus said unto him. It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Matthew 4:7
Consider that Competitive Sports should have no place or part in a Godly Plan for good EyeHealth! Consider that giving permission to your child to participate in Competitive Sports is, at best, poor planning; and, at worst, it is planning for failure!

Daily Prayer for God's protection is efficient and effective planning. Pray daily for yourself and your friends and family. Does not God hear the prayer of a righteous man?

Planning Your Child's EyeHealth from Pregnancy & Beyond

Yes, your child needs a plan- even from conception - to guard and protect the precious gift of eyesight that God has bestowed upon him.

In today's world it is not uncommon for physicians and ophthalmologist, upon an eye examination, to see traces of Arterio-Sclerosis in the fine and small blood vessels in the eyes of adolescent children as young as thirteen years of age! This is clearly the result of poor lifestyle choices, and poor dietary habits and practices.

As a fetus in the womb your child needs comprehensive EyeCare.

The same essential and very important needs of Adequate Oxygenation, and Proper Nutrition exist for the fetus and newborn infant. The very same godly and simple plan of the Eight Natural Laws of Health is as necessary for the mother; as it is for the health of her baby.

Sunshine is an Essential Part of that Plan.. Vitamin D3 from Sunshine is best; but if not possible, then artificial UVB light and/or oral supplementation with Vitamin D3 is necessary for proper eye development and health, not to mention as a preventative against Autism, Asthma, and Auto-Immunity disorders - even Cancers.

The mother to be needs somewhere between five (5) minutes a day, to fifteen (15) minutes a day, even up to thirty (30) minutes a day, and perhaps even more of direct exposure of the skin to the rays of the sun to develop adequate Vitamin D3. The time required will vary depending on several factors: Area of Skin Exposed; Darkness/Lightness of Your Skin Pigmentation; Your Age; Time of Day; the Degree of Northern or Southern Latitudes; and the Season of the Year.

Did you know that three sessions each of five minutes - to six sessions each of five minutes of exposing the skin to direct sunlight is more effective and safer that one all-at-once session in the sun? If you skin is reddening after the first five-minute session, you do not need any more that day! You may tolerate three, four, or five sessions and then, at any time, if your skin reddens or if you feel your skin burning you have had enough exposure for that day. Keep it safe and simple.

The newborn child has need of a little sunshine exposure as well; but be very careful not to let his skin be overexposed to too much direct sunlight - ask you pediatrician for his advice.

Nearly an Epidemic of Near-Sightedness!

There are more and more children becoming Near-Sighted. Is there a reason for this new development? Is there any remedy? Yes, there are reasons for this new phenomenon, and by taking the proper EyeHealth measures and steps to avoid Near-Sightedness, you can greatly improve your child's developing vision.

The problem is too much In Doors, and not enough... Out of Doors. From infancy your child needs to frequently spend time Out of Doors where his eyes can focus on the very most distant horizon. Objects which are at extreme distance, such as: distant mountains, the moon, and the horizon for example. From infancy to at least four to five years of age; this simple plan will help your child's eyes to develop good DistanceVision.

Frequent outings where the young child is able to focus his eyes on the most distant objects in his surroundings is the best Natural Remedy for Near-Sightedness - and it must be accomplished from infancy to early childhood. It will cost much less to do this now than to purchase prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, and or Lasser Eye Surgery at a later date.

We all need to put together a comprehensive HealthPlan! A plan that is Simple and Godly! Amen.
